“Show me a guy who does not enjoy looking at a woman twerk
and you would give me reason not to go ahead with my twerking classes.” With a smile,
this was the response from the CEO of Kyses Studios when asked, “why a twerk
class?”
Dance classes over the past few years have become a popular
phenomenon. However, Nelly, a graduate of the University of Education, Winneba
who began Kyses Studios, registered dance company in Ghana, four years ago, is
the innovative brain behind what could be described as Ghana’s first twerk
class.
Throwing more light on the class which commences on February
25, 2017, she revealed that the motive behind the twerk class was to see more
women keep fit amongst other reasons.
NELLY, CEO OF KYSES STUDIOS |
Nelly said, “a lot of women would love to have slender
waists, well-shaped hips and bodies yet put very little effort into exercising.
Twerking is one thing all women would love to be able to do and do well for
varied reason. It is a beautiful art to watch and it is by itself is good
exercise for the lower part of the body. Knowing that women love to twerk, I thought
it wise to turn the fun of just learning how to twerk into good exercise as
well.”
The class, scheduled
to run from 1pm to 3pm every Saturday will be held at the Dancetera Studio at
Caprice, Accra. Looking forward to attract a good number of participants, there
is no restriction on the number of sessions a student can have. The fee per
month is 100 Ghana Cedis and 30 Ghana Cedis for walk ins.
Kyses Studios which started as a dance crew of three ladies,
currently has on its roll about 20 ladies and a few men. The studio has appeared
in a good number of music videos and been dancers for many well-known artistes on
stage, with their latest appearance being in MzVee’s latest video “Rewind.”
